Short biography

Born and raised in Spain, Nicolás Pérez Rodríguez obtained his degree in Physics (1999) at the Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife. After working several years in Finances and other related areas (MBA in 2002) he returned to the Academia finishing his Master Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2007) at the Universitat de Barcelona.

He continued in Barcelona earning his PhD in Nanoscience (2012) working with Prof. Xavier Batlle and Prof. Amílcar Labarta on magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications. For his dissertation he was awarded the Special Doctorate Prize 2012 of the Universitat de Barcelona.

After teaching magnetic and superconducting materials courses and other subjects at the Universitat de Barcelona since 2010, he joined the IFW Dresden in 2014 in order to become a member of the ERC group led by Denys Makarov.
